Jaguar XJ (7)

On my way home the other day I stumbled across this gorgeous Jaguar XJ. Since its remodeling in 2009, this current generation XJ emits nothing but class and style.

This new generation XJ is also loaded with tech that would make any IT guy squeal (and trust me, I’m an IT guy). The dash has an all LCD display where the user can choose what information they want to be shown, it has full surround sound audio, there are not only screens for the rear passengers to watch, but also integrated iPad docks, and an optional illumination package that emits an aura of color across the entire car. There is no better way to go on a long trip and it’s especially good if you’re the rear passenger!

Dodge Viper GTS 4

While visiting Minneapolis this last weekend for a wedding I was a little disappointed that I didn’t see any unique cars. Usually when I visit a big city there are all kinds of rare vehicles lying around but this time I only saw the usual people carriers and lots of Mini Coopers. On my way back home, however, I stumbled across this Dodge Viper GTS while filling up for gas!

The Dodge Viper GTS was introduced in 1996 and it’s nickname was “double bubble” because of the two humps on top of the roof. These were designed so the driver and passenger could wear helmets. This is definitely a race car because a stock GTS can do the quarter mile in 12 seconds! In 2006, the GTS was replaced by the SRT-10.

AMC AMX (5)

Believe it or not, at one time the AMC AMX was a direct competitor of the Chevy Corvette. From 1968 – 1970 the AMX was the only car other than the Corvette to be a steel-bodied 2-seater. Despite being priced much, much lower the Corvette still won in the end.

This model is a 1979 Spirit AMX and was pretty much a replacement for the Gremlin. Not quite as cool as “Corvette Competitor” but still cool nonetheless. B.F. Goodrich tire company did sponsor two Spirits for the 24 hour race at the Nurburgring and they came #1 and #2 in their class. Also, Popular Science did a road test on the Spirit and said AMC was the “cleverest engineers in Detroit” because they got “$200 worth of looks for $100″. Chrysler then bought out the AMC in 1987 and continued with Jeep and Eagle vehicles.

This AMC Spirit AMX was spotted at Law Motors on 41st street. They seem to have a habit of having some rare cars on display!

Range Rover Evoque 2

Land Rover’s smallest SUV, the Range Rover Evoque, is also it’s most eccentric. The Evoque comes in trims such as “pure”, “prestige”, and “dynamic” and has a product description of, and I’m not joking, “breathtaking contemporary kinetic design.” Let’s be honest, the Evoque is a smaller, sportier Range Rover that is more efficient and better suited for city driving. It also comes in a 4-door option as well if you have children to tug around kinetically… or whatever.

This Range Rover Evoque was spotted at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, SD!

BMW 135i M Sport (2)

The BMW 1 series is the smallest vehicle in the current BMW lineup. They are a 2-door, rear wheel drive compact that are both efficient and fun to drive… but they are a little difficult to choose from because of BMW’s goofy naming system. There is the 135i, 135i Convertible, 135is, 135i with the M sport package, and a 1M (not to be confused with the classic M1). What in the world were they thinking?

Basically, this is the 135i with the M Sport package. All that means is that this is a standard 135i with a bunch of “M” badges inside and out; no performance upgrades. That being said, this is still a quick little car. It has a 300 hp turbo engine with a sport tuned suspension and will go from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds! The 135i starts at around $40,000 and is sure to excite all levels of drivers.

Ironically, this BMW 135i M Sport was spotted at Hot Harley Nights this year!

Mercedes Benz CLS55 AMG (3)

The CLS-Class was Mercedes‘ return to the executive-sized coupe in 2004. Even though it has 4 doors, it only seats two in the back so it is still considered a coup. The CLS-Class is built for luxury, comfort, and style, but the CLS55 AMG was built for picking up important-types at the airport and then scaring the living daylights out of them on the trip to the hotel. The normal (first generation) CLS-Class had a measly 300 hp while the AMG tops out at nearly 500! With this Mercedes I guess you can have your cake and eat it too!

This Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG was spotted downtown Sioux Falls. These are also the first round of images with our new picture editing/watermark going forward!

Ford Mustang Shelby Cobra (2)

This goes without saying, but I need to get behind the wheel of one of these. The supercharged 5.8 liter V8 in this Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 will push it to over 200 mph! This car is so mean that Ford even writes on their website that this is “the most powerful production V8 on Earth!”

But wait, there’s more! The GT500 looks amazing, it has giant Brembo brakes, custom interior stitching, an optional “track pack”, and possibly one of the coolest shift knobs of all time. It appears that it can even make left and right turns at high speeds!

We apologize for the slightly blurry pictures but in lieu of Henry Ford’s 150th Birthday this was just too cool not to post. This Shelby GT500 was spotted just outside of Hot Summer Nights, probably waiting on a Corvette ZR1 to go toe-to-toe with!

Canton Area Car Show - 2013 (78)

Each year that I go to the Canton Area Car Show I get more and more surprised at the variety of vehicles that make it out there. There is everything from old muscle cars to classic imports to European exotics. Some of the rarest cars out there included a Lotus Elise, a BMW Isetta 300, and a 1980 Corvette Grand Louver of which only 13 were ever made! Matched with the great weather, good food, live music, and an on-site dyno, this year’s Canton Area Car Show was one to remember! Which was your favorite car at Canton Area Car Show 2013?

*There was also a Ferrari that drove past me as I was walking away. Sad that this is the only photo I could get!

The SL-Class has been Mercedes-Benz’s bread and butter roadster since the 1950s. Whenever you think of a classy, 2-door convertible with a giant logo on the grille, it’s almost always an SL. This 2008-2012 model was a major redesign when it came out and it was built to resemble the iconic 300SL.

This SL63 was spotted downtown during Hot Summer Nites in the same spot 2 years in a row! Is it bad to say it might have been one of the most interesting cars there? Sorry Corvettes!

Normally we black-out license plates, but Rat Killer was too cool to cover up!

Audi S4 (2)

I know I know, Audi‘s are almost a dime a dozen around here because they set the standard for luxury cars… and because cost of living is low. But this isn’t your typical Audi A4. This is the S4 model. It replaces the standard inline 4 or optional V6 with a 3 liter supercharged TFSI V6 engine. That is fast for a car this small. It also has bigger wheels, it’s more aerodynamic, and there are tons of electronics on board to keep you on the track no matter how fast you’re going. This is the current model but the S4 has actually been in production since 1991!

This Audi S4 was spotted just outside of Hot Summer Nites!

Hot Summer Nites 2013 (85)

If you love Corvettes then you are in the right place! 2013 marked the 20th annual Hot Summer Nites in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and it did not disappoint! There were yellow ones, black ones, 50th Anniversary ones and 60th Anniversary ones. I’m a little sad though because there was only one brown Corvette but it represented for the 70′s!

So grab your American flags and scroll through this gorgeous display of American muscle! Let us know which one was your favorite in the comments below!

SCCS Autocross July 2013

Here’s the video we put together from the SCCS Autocross event on July 14. We got to do 6 runs that were timed and we squeezed in 2 fun runs in the end. We left the fairgrounds with gigantic smiles and a ton of good footage. Autocross is easily the best $30 you can spend if you’re even curious about motor sports!

We tried to get as many cars on video as we could but if you don’t see yours, it will at least be in a picture here: https://siouxfallsautoreviews.com/sccs-autocross-july-2013/

Harley Davidson Logo

Hot Harley Nights at J&L Harley in Sioux Falls turned out to be a fantastic time! We got tons of great pictures and met some great people. There were hundreds and hundreds of motorcycles out there and it was hard to choose which ones to take pictures of! Here’s a quick recap of the night and there are lots more pictures below!

Hand Made Motorcycles

We met a very nice guy who built these two bikes with his hands and without his eyes. Unfortunately he is blind, but fortunately he has an amazing talent!

Dancing at Hot Harley Nights

This awesome grandpa danced with his granddaughter all night!

Oryx Band Sioux Falls

This awesome 80′s cover band, ORYX, blasted ballads into our ears, and our hearts.

Hot Harley Nights 2013

This picture just really summed up the whole night. Sweet bike, sweet shirt, and a sweet sunset!
